The AI Witch Trials

The AI Witch Trials

by Ramsés Dávila-Luna @ The Writer’s Cavern

At sunset and crest writer was to burn at the stake

Crime was using black magic AI and tribunal felt it unsafe

First witness was the publishers

Stole from undiscovered who sent work their way

Fist turned to gavel when computer took commission and rates

Judge tap-danced for the studios

Kino-eye and green screen channeled loneness

Second witness was big storefront

Distribution gutted midtown and gifted livelihoods a tombstone crown

Third witness was fame

Ghostwriters kept underground

Real pen burnt for greenbacks all for publicity’s sake

Digital pioneer snuck in to set algorithm of critique

To send Toole to Biloxi

Rejection plants the witch hat

Masses circled their scapegoat with hypocrisy that doused

Conveniences labeled improvements were no problem in the outer bounds

Tools overseers entertained as a new sight and sound

Now hit too close to home and threatened aloud

Covers for inaction were the matches they brought out

When the natural they sought out had long been destroyed by their own plow

Not a good feel to be like the little guys consumerism drowned out

Your Thelma will chase after enigma one day to remind you not…

To burn creatives on the trains you once proudly talked about
